July in Ottawa is bursting with energy — and The Docks at Mooney’s Bay is right in the heart of it all.

Summer in the capital is nothing short of magical, and there’s no better time to dive into everything the city has to offer. Here are 10 exciting events happening in and around Ottawa this July:

1.Cirque du Soleil – OVO

Where: Canadian Tire Centre
When: July 2–6

Head over to the Canadian Tire Centre to experience the magic and wonder of Cirque du Soleil as it brings OVO to life - a vibrant, acrobatic performance inspired by the world of insects. With high-flying acts, whimsical costumes, and breathtaking choreography, OVO is a show the whole family will love.

2. Music on the Canal

Where: Rideau Canal (between the NAC and Dow’s Lake)
When: Thursdays at 6:30pm & Saturdays at 4:30pm  

Celebrate summer with Music on the Canal, the NAC’s unique floating concert series. Every Thursday and Saturday in July , head down to the canal to enjoy free live performances from talented local musicians — all performed from a boat gliding between the National Arts Centre and Dow’s Lake. It’s a one-of-a-kind way to soak in the sounds of summer and experience Ottawa’s scenic waterfront all month long.  

3. Pirate Fest

Where: Mooney’s Bay Park
When: July 5

Ahoy, matey! Grab your eye patches and head down to Pirate Fest, a spectacular day of family fun right here at Mooney’s Bay Beach. With themed games, costume contests, treasure hunts, and live entertainment, it’s the perfect summer outing for little pirates (and their grown-up crew).

4. VegOttawa Fest

Where: Ottawa Conference and Event Centre
When: July 5

This one-day plant-based food festival celebrates local vendors, eco-conscious products, and all things vegan. Sample delicious bites, listen to guest speakers, attend cooking demos, and shop sustainable lifestyle goods. It’s a fun and flavourful way to explore Ottawa’s growing plant-based scene.

5. Ottawa on Tap Beer Fest

Where: Canadian Tire on 2135 Robertson Road
When: July 5

Calling all craft beer lovers! Ottawa On Tap Beer Fest is your chance to sample some of the best local brews the city has to offer. Spend the day sipping a wide variety of craft beers, enjoying live music, playing games for all ages, and even jumping in for a round of karaoke. It’s a fun, laid-back way to celebrate summer - pint in hand.

6. RBC Ottawa Bluesfest

Where: LeBreton Flats Park
When: July 10–20

Get ready for 11 days of live music, summer energy, and unforgettable memories at RBC Ottawa Bluesfest — one of Canada’s biggest and most iconic music festivals. Held at LeBreton Flats Park, this outdoor festival brings together a vibrant mix of international headliners and local talent across multiple stages. This year’s lineup features Green Day, Hozier, Shania Twain, Lainey Wilson, and many more. Whether you're a longtime fan or a first-time festivalgoer, Bluesfest is a can't-miss highlight of the Ottawa summer.  

7. HOPE Volleyball SummerFest

Where: Mooney’s Bay Beach
When: July 11–12

Just steps from The Docks, HOPE Volleyball SummerFest is one of Ottawa’s most anticipated summer events — uniting thousands of players for a full day of beach volleyball, live music, and high-energy fun. With proceeds supporting local charities, it’s a feel-good way to spend your Saturday. Grab your sunscreen, rally your team, and get ready to bump, set, and spike your way into summer.

8. Ottawa Lebanese Festival

Where: St. Elias Centre (Riverside Drive)
When: July 16–20  

Just down the street from The Docks, this lively cultural celebration showcases Lebanese cuisine, music, and dance. Enjoy delicious traditional dishes like shawarma, kibbeh, and baklava, along with performances from local and international artists. Family-friendly and full of heart, this five-day festival is a Mooney’s Bay summer staple.

9. Nature Nocturne

Where: Canadian Museum of Nature
When: July 18

See the museum like never before — at night! Nature Nocturne transforms the Canadian Museum of Nature into an after-hours playground for adults, complete with DJs, interactive exhibits, cocktails, and dancing. It’s part nightlife, part learning, and all fun — wrapped up into one unforgettable event.

10. Les Grands Feux du Casino Lac-Leamy

Where: Various Locations along the Ottawa River
When: July 30 – August 16

Kicking off at the end of July, Les Grands Feux du Casino Lac-Leamy lights up the Ottawa-Gatineau skyline with an international fireworks competition like no other. Each night features dazzling displays choreographed to music, showcasing the artistry of different countries. The best viewing locations? The Canadian Museum of History or a scenic boat on the river — perfect spots to take in the vibrant spectacle.
